IST Advances MOOC Development to Promote Lifelong Learning
The International School of Tourism, Suratthani Rajabhat University, is advancing the development of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) to promote lifelong learning and expand access to knowledge in tourism, hospitality, and foreign languages.
The International School of Tourism (IST), Suratthani Rajabhat University, is moving forward with the development of courses in the form of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) to promote lifelong learning and expand access to knowledge in tourism and hospitality. The initiative focuses on developing high-quality digital learning resources that respond to learning needs in the digital era while enabling students, university personnel, and interested learners to access knowledge conveniently and continuously.
As part of this initiative, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patchaniya Ekkapetch, a lecturer from the Faculty of Management Sciences, participated in driving the development of MOOC courses. Faculty members from the Foreign Languages Group and the Tourism and Hospitality Management Program of the International School of Tourism also participated in the course development and design process to produce high-quality learning materials that can be utilized by students and interested learners.
The development process was supported by knowledge and recommendations from experts, including Mr. Teerawat Kitngam, Computer Technical Officer from the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, and Lecturer Kochaphan Nunsang from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The experts provided knowledge and systematic guidance for the development of online courses.
The development activities covered key areas including MOOC design, preparation of standardized documentation, instructional content and learning media design, assessment and evaluation, procedures for publishing courses on the platform, as well as content script preparation and review. These processes are intended to ensure that the courses are developed systematically, meet appropriate quality standards, and are ready for practical implementation.
The development of MOOC courses represents an important approach to integrating digital technology into education. It helps reduce limitations related to time and location and allows learners to access learning content according to their individual readiness and interests. This approach contributes to the creation of a learning society and supports lifelong learning opportunities.
