IST Concludes Three Inspiring Days of Hands-on Learning, Career Discovery, and Sustainability Achievement

From 22–24 July 2026, the International School of Tourism connected classroom learning with future careers through hospitality, aviation, food and beverage, language, social engineering, and collaborative learning.

Throughout the three days of SRU Open House 2027, the International School of Tourism, Suratthani Rajabhat University, created a vibrant learning space filled with hands-on experiences, enjoyment, and inspiration. Students, parents, and visitors were able to explore academic programmes, professional skills, and career pathways in tourism and hospitality.

Under the concept “IST-SRU: Social Engineer Bar,” the School presented learning beyond textbooks by connecting knowledge with real practice. Activities included professional beverage-mixing demonstrations, introductions to aviation safety procedures and equipment, conversations with lecturers and current students, and presentations on social engineering and sustainable development.

The executive team and first-year students joined the “Social Engineer” song performance, followed by Thomas Tom’s session, “Speak English Naturally, Without Overthinking.” Programme showcases, student work, and creative booth activities added further energy to the day.

A group of 42 teachers and students joined the “Learning Resource Field Trip: Opening the Door to Careers (Japanese Language)” and attended “Dream High, Fly Higher” to explore programmes, future skills, and careers in aviation, tourism, and hospitality.

Three Consecutive Years of Sustainability Recognition

The School received the Second Runner-Up Award in the Faculty Group Category of the 2026 Best Practices & Innovation for Sustainability Contest, marking its third consecutive year of recognition from this platform.

IST Young Bartender Championship 2026

The regional Southern Classic Bartender competition, held under the theme “LOCAL MEETS GLOBAL,” gave emerging bartenders a platform to transform Southern identity, local ingredients, storytelling, and presentation skills into distinctive creative beverages.

A Learning Space Connecting People and Partners

The activities encouraged participants to exchange ideas, ask questions, and gain insights from lecturers and students, while building awareness of the professional, language, creative, and teamwork skills required in service industries.

Overall, the activities reflected the School’s educational approach, which emphasizes experiential learning, future-ready professional skills, appreciation of local identity, and collaboration among the university, schools, communities, industry partners, and wider networks.

The success of the event was made possible by administrators, lecturers, staff, students, participating schools, communities, and partner networks. Together, they created a learning environment where young people could try, ask, explore, and gain greater confidence in shaping their futures.

“We do more than introduce programmes. We create experiences, build confidence, and help the next generation discover the future that is right for them.”
