THM Prepares Third-Year Hotel-Track Students for the Industry through OPERA Cloud PMS Professional Training

Connecting classroom learning with hotel technology through hands-on training delivered by an industry expert.

The Tourism Management programme organised the “OPERA Cloud PMS Professional Training”, a three-hour hands-on workshop for third-year students in the hotel interest group, aimed at strengthening their knowledge, understanding and practical skills in hotel property management technology for the digital hospitality industry.

Technology now plays an increasingly important role across hotel operations, from reservations and guest services to room management and coordination among different departments. The ability to understand and effectively use hotel property management systems has therefore become an essential competency for hospitality professionals in the digital era.

To prepare students for these changing industry requirements, the programme organised “OPERA Cloud PMS Professional Training”, providing third-year hotel-track students with practical exposure to the OPERA Cloud Property Management System (PMS) and its application to hotel operations.

The training was led by Mr. Krisada Jaidee, Project Manager, Oracle Corporation (Thailand) Co., Ltd., who shared professional knowledge and practical experience in technology systems for the hotel industry.

Learning through Real-World Practice

The session adopted a hands-on workshop-based learning approach, allowing students to understand how OPERA Cloud PMS supports real hotel workflows and how different operational processes are connected through a central property management system.

The workshop covered key hotel operating processes, including reservations, check-in and check-out, guest profile management, room and room-status management, as well as coordination among different hotel departments. This enabled students to develop a clearer understanding of integrated hotel operations.

Digital Skills Building confidence in the use of digital technology for hotel operations.
Technology Skills Understanding PMS technology and modern hotel workflows.
Professional Skills Developing workplace knowledge and industry-ready competencies.

The activity gave students an opportunity to learn directly from an industry professional while connecting theoretical knowledge with practical hotel operations. The training strengthened Digital Skills, Technology Skills and Professional Skills that are increasingly important for careers in modern hotels and hospitality businesses.

The programme also reflects the International School of Tourism’s commitment to developing learners whose competencies align with labour-market and industry needs. Students are encouraged not only to understand tourism and hospitality concepts, but also to confidently apply relevant technologies in professional working environments.

This learning experience represents another important step in preparing students for professional placements and future careers. By combining hospitality knowledge, technological capability and professional practice, students are better positioned to adapt, perform effectively and grow as future hospitality professionals in the digital era.
