To promote sustainable community-based tourism and strengthen academic-community engagement, the International School of Tourism, Suratthani Rajabhat University, organized a FAM Trip in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology, exploring emerging destinations in coastal Chumphon Province. The initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On June 20–21, 2025,
Asst. Prof. Vitchuta Haicharoen, project coordinator,
along with faculty members from the Faculty of Science and Technology,
organized a Stakeholder Meeting and Familiarization Trip (FAM Trip) in
Baan Sieb Yuan – Koh Kula – Bor Kha – Wat Phra Borommathat Sawi, Chumphon Province.
The program aimed to promote experiential learning, encourage local participation, and foster knowledge exchange between academia and local communities. Highlights included:

Cultural exploration at Bor Kha, an ancient Chinese-Thai community

Long-tail boat ride and snorkeling at Koh Kula, with a “Love the Sea” conservation activity

Traditional Thai dessert workshop with local women’s groups

Hands-on squid fishing and shell gathering with villagers

Cultural visit to Wat Phra Borommathat Sawi and its heritage museum
This initiative reflects the integration of academic knowledge for sustainable development and contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Local Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
