IST Pays Tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on Navamindra Maharaj Day 2026
Wreath-laying and commemorative ceremony at Suratthani Rajabhat University
The International School of Tourism (IST), Suratthani Rajabhat University, joined the 2026 Navamindra Maharaj Day commemorative ceremony to pay tribute to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (King Rama IX).
On 9 October 2026, at the Vajiralongkorn Auditorium, Suratthani Rajabhat University, Dr. Jirati Phooniad, Dean of the International School of Tourism, designated Assistant Professor Pornpaktra Sakda, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Research, to represent the Dean in presenting a wreath before the royal portrait of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.
The IST delegation also included Dr. Wirun Pichaiwongphakdi, Vice Dean for International Relations and Overseas Missions, and Assistant Professor Benya Jariyavijit, Assistant Dean for Educational Quality Assurance. Their participation reflected the School's respect and gratitude in remembrance of the late King.
Organized by Suratthani Rajabhat University, the ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Wattana Rattanaprom, President of Suratthani Rajabhat University. According to the official programme, activities included alms-giving and Buddhist chanting dedicated to royal merit, a wreath-laying ceremony, and an 89-second moment of silence.
IST's participation underscored the importance of cultural remembrance, learning about Thai history and heritage, and preserving valued traditions within the university community.
