Aviation Business Students Explore the Real-World Aviation Industry

The Aviation Business Program, International School of Tourism, provided students with first-hand learning experiences through the “Exploring the Aviation Industry toward Sustainability” project at Surat Thani Meteorological Station and Surat Thani International Airport, connecting classroom knowledge with real-world aviation operations.

The Aviation Business Program, International School of Tourism, organized the “Exploring the Aviation Industry toward Sustainability” project, providing students with an opportunity to learn directly from real aviation-related workplaces at Surat Thani Meteorological Station and Surat Thani International Airport. The activity was led by Assistant Professor Pornphaktra Sakda, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Research, together with faculty members and staff.

The activity was designed to extend learning beyond the classroom by allowing students to gain first-hand experience and observe actual aviation operations. Through this experience, students were able to develop a broader understanding of the aviation system and the roles of professionals working in different areas of the industry.

Students explored key areas including aviation meteorology, airport components and operations, passenger services, and aviation safety. These experiences helped students connect academic knowledge with real-world situations and understand how different functions work together within the aviation industry.

The learning experience also emphasized responsible and sustainable operations, encouraging students to recognize the importance of developing the aviation industry alongside safety, service quality, social responsibility, and environmental considerations.

This experiential learning activity represents an important approach to preparing students for their future careers by enabling them to see, experience, and connect classroom knowledge with real-world work. It also supports the development of students with practical skills, professional awareness, and a deeper understanding of the evolving aviation industry.
