Japanese Language Skill Development Program for Tourism at Ratchaprapha Dam

Suratthani Rajabhat University’s International School of Tourism remains committed to enhancing the foreign language communication skills of its students and community members in real-world tourism settings through high-quality practical training programs.

The “Japanese Language Workshop for Tourism Communication at Khao Sok” was recently organized at Ratchaprapha Dam, Ban Ta Khun District, Suratthani Province.

This initiative is part of the Phase 2 Social Engineer Classroom Project, building upon the previous “Foreign Languages for Community-Based Tourism Communication at Khao Sok” program. It focuses on addressing communication challenges faced by Japanese tourists visiting the natural attractions of Khao Sok National Park. Although Japanese tourists are fewer in number compared to those from Europe, they often encounter significant challenges communicating in English.

Key Activities in the Program

• Developing a Japanese-language tourism guidebook to support communication in local tourism settings.

• Providing hands-on learning opportunities for students at tourism sites, involving practical activities with community members.

• Gaining insights into community-based tourism management through interactions with experts and shared experiences.

Expected Outcomes

• Improved Japanese language skills among community members.

• Promotion of sustainable tourism through collaboration between students, local communities, and tourist attractions.

• Creation of opportunities for students to learn and apply their skills in real-world scenarios.

This program underscores the dedication of the International School of Tourism to enhancing language proficiency and tourism management capabilities, meeting the demands of the global tourism industry.
