On July 9, 2025, the International School of Tourism (IST) at Surat Thani Rajabhat University (SRU), led by its faculty, staff, and students, participated in the traditional Candle Festival procession for the year 2025. The event was organized by the Office of Arts and Culture of SRU to present Lent candles and perform the candle-lit circumambulation ceremony at Wat Phukhao Thong and Wat Sila Suwannaram in Mueang Surat Thani District.
The atmosphere of the event was imbued with the beauty of Thai culture. The exquisitely decorated candle procession moved along its designated route, with students from the International School of Tourism taking part, reflecting their faith in Buddhism and a sincere commitment to preserving this revered tradition for future generations.
This activity was not merely about offering candles as a Buddhist act of merit for Asalha Puja Day and the Buddhist Lent period. It also served as a significant extracurricular learning experience, instilling in students an appreciation for the value of cultural heritage, promoting morals and ethics, and fostering unity among students and the local community.
